Are you sure, if you died today, that you would go to heaven?

Hi, my name is Bob. I would like to show you, using some Bible verses and four colored beads, how you can know for sure that you will go to heaven.

Gold BeadThe gold bead actually represents heaven. I want to go there someday. How about you? Can I ask you a question? Are you 100% sure that, if something happened to you today, that you would go to heaven?

Let me use the rest of the beads to show you what the Bible says about how we can know for sure that we have a home in heaven.

Dark BeadThere’s one problem that we have to deal with before we can get to heaven and that problem is us. You see, the dark bead represents sin and the Bible says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Rom 3:23)

If I am old enough to write this and you are old enough to read it then I think we are BOTH old enough to understand that we have sinned, that we have done some things that God does not like. Haven’t we?

The Bible also says, “The wages of sin is death.” (Rom 6:23a) What this means is that, no matter how much we want to be in heaven, we’re not allowed to go. We can’t get into heaven with our sins.

Red BeadFortunately, that’s not the end of the story. Now let’s talk about the read bead. God sent His Son, Jesus, to the earth 2,000 years ago to die for our sins. They nailed Him to a cross and put a spear in His side. He died. Next, they put Him in a tomb. Then, 3 days later on Easter, what happened to Him?  That’s right, He rose from the dead. Do you know that He is the only one in history to ever die and 3 days later rise himself from the dead?

The Bible says about this that, “God proved His love to us in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom 5:8) Jesus died for me and for you and for the entire world. He died for everyone. The Bible tells us that, “The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Rom 6:23b) Eternal life is a free gift for everyone! But ,how do we get this free gift?

White BeadWell, that brings us to the white bead. The white bead is about our response to the gift that God is offering us. Like any gift, eternal life isn’t really ours until we reach out and take it, until we accept it, receive it. The Bible says that the way we accept His gift of eternal life is just to ask for it. The Bible says, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom 10:13)   What this simply means is that there must be a moment in your life where you personally decide that Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead and that you are going to trust Him as your only way to heaven.  Now, let me ask you a really serious question. If Jesus is willing to accept you just the way you are, and He is, would you be willing to trust Him as your only way to heaven?

Let’s tell God what you want to do. When I was 14 someone asked me if I wanted to trust Jesus and I didn’t know how to tell God that I wanted to do that. He helped me say a pray to God. I want to help you with that same prayer. Keep in mind, it’s not the prayer that lets you put your trust in Jesus, it’s what you believe in your heart. The prayer is just telling God what you want to do, that you want to trust in His Son, Jesus.

So, pray this prayer, and mean it:

God, I know that I am a sinner.
I know that Jesus died on the cross for my sins.
Please forgive me of my sins.
Come into my life and my heart to save me.
I ask the best I know how.
In Jesus name, Amen.

Now, I want to share one more thing with you.

The Bible says “That whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom 10:13) Who do you think “whosoever” is?  That’s anybody in the world, that’s me, that’s you.  Did you just call on the name of the Lord?

This passage says that whosoever (that’s you) shall call on the name of the Lord (that’s what you just did) shall be saved.  So, according to God’s Word, are you a saved person or a lost person? That’s right, you are a saved person.  Where do you think saved people go? That’s right, to heaven. So, if you were to die tonight, you would spend eternity in heaven!

Do me a favor. This is the most important decision you will ever make. I would love to celebrate it with you. Can you give me a call or an email or send me a letter letting me know that you’ve trusted Jesus as your Savior?  Here’s my contact information:
